Michael Kerley

Michael Kerley is Associate Director of the Theatre Arts and Technology Division at NJIT.  He holds an MFA in Directing from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill  and an Ed.D. in Media and Education from Columbia University.   Dr. Kerley’s teaching concentrations center on classes in musical theatre adaptation and performance, as well as literature courses on 20th-Century Drama and theatre appreciation.  During the summers, Dr. Kerley teaches classes for the McNair Achievement Program and EOP (Educational Opportunity Program).   He has also served as media director for a large insurance company in Newark, developed his issues-management company practicing throughout New Jersey, and was drama teacher at a Golda Ochs day school in West Orange, NJ.   Dr. Kerley has directed over 150 productions in NC, NYC, and NJ. His wife, Suzanne Ishee, is a professional performer and producer and is currently the president of Center for Creative Placemaking, an organization that explores the re-vitalization of communities through the arts and culture.
