Video Production

The Video Production Program offers a broad range of technical and media studies courses that place emphasis on creative production, academic scholarship, and media literacy. Students take a core curriculum with courses in the history of film and video, journalism, new media, critical studies, and intensive video production.

Our program prepares students to be original independent media makers and provides them with diverse production and analytical skills that can be applied to varied careers in an ever-changing media landscape.

The Video Program faculty consists of internationally renowned artists with extensive professional and industry experience in television, film, and video art. Within the major, students specialize in either narrative or documentary production and benefit from small classes where they are offered close guidance and mentorship by teachers who work actively in the field.

Students in the Video Program utilize state of the art professional HD video cameras, location lighting equipment and sound recording equipment. Editing facilities consist of non-linear digital editing labs with Final Cut Pro editing software and Macintosh computer systems. As the field constantly changes and expands, the Video Program continues to update and upgrade its equipment to reflect what is happening in the professional workplace.

Our students have the opportunity to gain essential practical experience and professional contacts through the internship program which has direct access to a vast range of television, film, and multi-media production companies in northern New Jersey and the New York metropolitan region.
